This is unbelieveable! I think the photo says it all. I’m waiting for some confirmation from the original poster of this image to verify that this actually happened during a revved-up game of bowling and will add to this later with more pics. In the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments!

Update: I’m confident that this is 4 real! We’ve had direct contact with Dave Hodges, who was there when it happened. He watched his friend Tyler do something to his 27″ CRT that RCA’s customer service department will probably never have seen before or since. He tells the story in full after the jump, and provides 3 more photos which will still leave you wondering “Is that really possible?” or make you fall off your chair laughing.

I wanted to know if that Wiimote really ended up stuck in the TV, or whether it had cracked the casing and the hole was made to improve the photo cred. Dave responds from West Virginia, USA:

“It did indeed end up stuck in the hole. Tyler is right handed but usually bowls putting a clockwise spin on the wiimote, this time he put a counterclockwise spin on it… lesson learned? Stick with what works in the first place! The great part is we pulled it out, laughed some more, replaced the batteries and backplate then continued to play (only in a milder manner this time around). We’re trying to figure out how to make a comfortable/stronger strap right now.”

Phew! We learn a few things from this little story:

1. It really is possible to do damage to an old fashioned tube TV (see updated stats on TV damage).

2. When over a million people are playing the same game, unlikely things can happen.

3. The Nintendo Wii Remote is virtually indestructable (we’ve yet to see a remote die despite all this slinging around)

4. Wii Sports can be very very funny. Did Tyler get a strike? Dave: “I cant remember if it was a strike or not, I was too busy laughing. I was crying my eyes out, along with the three other guys in the room.”
