nj hockey
getting damn bored from doing superposition so decided to blog about the nj hockey girls match!!
day 1 (19/4 after pushed back from 18/4 due bad weather)
time- 10am
location- delta
njc vs mi
its the first game of the season..tensions are high and the look of nervousness can be seen clearly on all our players. the opening 3/4 of the first half was dominated by our girls with possesion being played mostly in our opponents court. attacking was strong by nj, pressuring the opponent with numerous short corners as well as quick counter-attacks. the last quarter of the game slowed down considerably maybe due to fatigue experienced by both sides.
the second half was not as well played, however, our girls never dissapointed us by putting on a tough fight. the opponents were relentless in their vicious attacks pressurising and keeping play in our half for most of the second half, except for a few long clearances done by our side. meiyan was able to hold of attacks from the left flank while geok meng playing right back was able to do the same on the right. not allowing the opponent to score any goals. the sudden downpour didnt made things any easier as the players now had to deal with stress, fatigue as well as a slightly water logged pitch and poor visibility. nonetheless no goals were scored by the opposition. allowing us to draw 0-0 with millenia.
day 2 (20/4)
time- 4.30pm
location- CCAB
njc vs ijc
after the depressing goaless draw the previous day, the girls had to prove themselves in this 2nd match. rj was able to give ij a trashing of 7-0 in their previous game and our girls intend to beat this giving ij a trashing of 8-0 this afternoon. the skies were cloudy and rumblings of thunder could be heard in the far distance, a heavy rain seemed to be imminent just as what had happened on the 19th. however the skies didnt opened up today and match was able to take place.
once again...the first half was dominated by our girls, pressurising the already demoralised ij side. however the girls kept on dominating till the end of the second half with their relentless and vicious attacks into the opponents D. forcing numerous short corners (19 to be exact) enabling our side to have numerous chances on goals. the opponent had almost no chance to retaliate, enabling our last man to be able to position herself at the half court line and our defenders were attacking the opponent as well. meiyan crafted a wonderful goal with a quick free hit to the strikers which caught the opponents off guard. this enabled the striker to score right after recieving the ball from meiyan.geok meng played well too in the second half as a right mid. assisting the forwards well as well as preventing counter attacks by the opponent. the final score....5-0 to nj!!

meiyan sweeping in one of our previous friendlies. (sorry no photo of season yet...keep forgetting to bring camera. dont worry geok...will take a photo of u too..haha)
